About The Event

Professional 3D Chalk artist, Kathleen Roling, is doing a FREE chalk artist workshop to prepare you for your first chalk festival to make sure your creative day goes smoothly!

At this workshop, you will be given the chalk 101 need to know for the physical demands of a day creating on pavement. You’ll be shown the tools to make your process easier while protecting your body, back, skin, and fingers. Kathleen will share experience to help you avoid the pitfalls of working with chalk. And she will share different techniques for creating large works in a short amount of time.

Many aspiring artists feel nervous creating publicly and with a large space for the first time. Kathleen will be available to encourage and teach you what you need to know to calm those nerves and cheer you on! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to meet face to face with Iowa’s 3D Chalk artist to start you on your own chalk adventures!

Kathleen has written a workbook that will have details of much of what is discussed in the workshop. If you don’t like taking diligent notes, then this is the book for you! You can get a paperback version with note taking space for $10. Or a Kindle version for $7. Within, you will find every tool Kathleen uses with detailed descriptions. And stories of pitfalls to avoid. The workbook is optional, but highly recommended!
